This guitar has been expertly set up by our in-house technicians to ensure optimal playability, delivering a clear, balanced tone and smooth action. With no noticeable fretwear, it plays beautifully and sounds exceptional, making it an ideal choice for both players and collectors who appreciate quality vintage instruments.
Condition:
This used Yamaha G-231 II is in great condition, showing only light signs of age, including some minor scratches and wear. These subtle imperfections are typical of an instrument this age, but they don’t detract from the guitar’s overall aesthetic or performance. The guitar is structurally sound and ready to play, with no cracks, issues, or major damage. It also comes with a protective case for safe storage and transport.
About the G-Series (1977-81):
The Yamaha G-series was produced from 1977 to 1981 and is widely regarded as one of Yamaha’s finest offerings in classical guitars. The G-230 through G-260 models, including this G-231 II, feature solid tops and premium materials that are often found in much more expensive instruments.
For example, the G-255S was the top-of-the-line model, retailing for $360 in the late 1970s—a significant price at the time. The G-250S was second-best, but all models from the G-230 to the G-260 are prized for their craftsmanship, tonewoods, and construction. As a result, these vintage guitars continue to be regarded as incredible value for money in today’s market.

The Yamaha G-231 II offers a rich, balanced tone that classical guitarists will appreciate. The solid spruce top gives it a bright, articulate sound, while the rosewood back and sides contribute warmth and depth. The guitar responds beautifully to both fingerstyle and light strumming, making it versatile enough for various genres, including classical, flamenco, and folk.
The action is set up perfectly for ease of play, and the tonal clarity is exceptional across all registers. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced player, this guitar will elevate your musical expression with its resonance and smooth playability.
