Simon Godin, of the Robert Godin family and namesake to the line of Simon and Patrick Guitars, stopped by the Guitar Hacienda for an old fashion visit from the factories. An avante guard music enthuse, Simon is in touch with many of the fine young musicians who play the many instruments offered by the Godin Company and remains true to the timeless values of crafting quality instruments.

There is a good feel when one picks up with playing a guitar built by the Godin's. Makes sense... No live trees are cut down to make their guitars, rather they roam the forests of Canada hunting down fallen timber that has aged a minimum of 2-3 years. The Godin family of guitars remain predominately crafted by hand taking between 6-8 days to assemble. Factories in Canada & the United States produces around 300,00 instruments annually and often have as many as three generations of family working in their plants, explained Simon.

We asked Simon how have they been able to hold the price down on their wide variety of acoustic and electric instruments that are still predominately made by hand and in North America. One way they hold costs down is that they do not sponsor musicians with costly deals so when one of their instruments is on stage, it's truly because that artist is a fan of the instrument. Speaking of which, both Roger Waters and Paul McCartney have been sporting Godin instruments. Roger Waters has been performing with his Godin Multiac Spectrum SA steel string model and playing it nightly while on tour for his incredible Roger Waters The Wall Live Tour on Hey You. Pretty cool, eh? |
Folks, we can't promise you that you'll ever be like McCartney or Waters but we're pretty sure you'll enjoy the many quality Godin, Seagull, , LaPatrie and Art & Lutherie instruments available at the Guitar Hacienda.
