Guitarists have been using the Echoplex’s preamp to juice their tone for ages, and now — thanks to the MXR Thump — bassists can get in on the action. Besides injecting your playing with the natural mojo of its circuitry, this bass preamp pedal also supplies you with a 3-band EQ with an adjustable mid frequency. Whether you want to punch up a solo, boost your live signal, or give your passive pickups an aggressive edge, the MXR Thump is the tone-sweetening, signal-boosting, groove-enhancing secret sauce you’ve been searching for.

 

Tons of tone-shaping power onboard

Just running your bass signal through the MXR Thump conditions it with a carefully balanced EQ profile, but that’s just the beginning. This bass preamp pedal’s 3-band EQ enables you to sculpt your tone in a myriad of ways. The Bass knob dials in your sound around the 40Hz range, while the Treb knob adjusts 8kHz. The Freq control enables you to adjust the frequency of the Mid knob, from 250Hz to 1kHz. The bassists here love the flexibility of the Thump — it packs a lot of versatility into an MXR mini housing.
