Ernie Ball Ambient Delay
Ernie Ball has long been a proponent of the foot-controlled pedal. After all, look on almost every pro board and you'll see the company's trademark volume pedal. But now, Ernie Ball throws it's hat into the delay ring, and the results are spectacular.
This is the Ambient Delay, and it really earns its name with individual delay and reverb effects that seamlessly meld with your guitar to create lush soundscapes in a foot-controllable package.
The first thing you will notice is that the unit has no bypass feature. Ernie Ball skirts this normally-important feature by making the footpedal control the ratio of clean to effected signal. With the pedal in "heel-down" position, all you hear is clean signal. You can then add just as much as you'd like, for light touches of delay and verb to full-on deep space exploration.
The Ambient Delay contains up to one full second of delay time for some truly spatial possibilities. A dedicated Reverb knob acts as a mix for the reverberation, of which there is plenty. Feedback and Time controls round out the controls, letting you control the "amount of repeats" and the length of the repeats, respectively.
The Ambient Delay also comes equipped with a Tap Tempo jack for remote control of the delay time without having to bend down and twist the knob (tap tempo footswitch sold separately).
Unlike other Ernie Ball pedals, the Ambient Delay's guts are enclosed to prevent accidental spills or dust intrusions. Rock without fear!
